The United Nations began involvement in Yemen in January 2011, when a revolution against President Abdullah Saleh began to unfold.
As well as this, armed forces "Al-Qaeda" and the "Houthi militant movement" posed as an increasing threat towards civilian life in Yemen.
In 2014 this ultimately escalated to civil war when Houthi forces attacked the capital Sanaa, and forced negotiation for a "unity government".
